About this wine

  • Sustainably Farmed
  • Estate Grown

APPELLATION: High Valley, Lake County, California

VINEYARD: Lamperti Block, Single Vineyard

VARIETAL BREAKDOWN: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

ANALYSIS: Alcohol 15%

Originally farmed by the Lamperti family, a second-generation Lake County family, this remote site has long been recognized for its exceptional character.

The vineyard’s distinctive identity begins below the surface. A historic black lava flow from the Round Mountain cinder cone rests beneath layers of Franciscan shale, contributing both structure and a pronounced mineral edge. Native cover crops of sage, laurel, and tar weed flourish between the rows, adding subtle herbal tones and aromatic lift that are signature to this site.

Our winemaking approach remains true to our philosophy: thoughtful farming, minimal intervention, and a commitment to letting the vineyard speak for itself. The fruit was handled gently to preserve its natural intensity and aromatic complexity.

After fermentation, the wine was aged for 24 months in French oak, with each barrel are fully evaluated and only the most exceptional selected for the final blend.

The result is a richly concentrated yet balanced Cabernet Sauvignon, with velvety tannins and layered complexity. It is a wine that speaks clearly of its vineyard, its vintage, and the stewardship behind it – distinctive, expressive, and easily recognized in a blind tasting.

Vintage Notes

2022 was an extraordinary year in the vineyards. Every few weeks, unusual weather events swept through the warm spring. Summer began with a heat wave reaching 110°F in Lake County, followed by heavy mid-summer rains. The two inches of rain delayed our harvest until the soil dried and brix levels rose.
