Cabernet franc is praised around the world for its versatility in the glass, however in the vineyard it can be finicky. Our viticulturists balance the needs for light exposer, and sun protection gracefully throughout the ripening season. These grapes are grown on the gentle slopes of the red hills ava, close to clear lake. The proximity to the a massive body of water helps to moderate the temperature throughout the year, protecting the vines from extreme cold, and warm temperatures. This is one of the last parcels we pick, the grapes hang until mid october most years. In the winery the grapes are fermented at a cooler temperature than other red varieties to preserve aromatics and build complexity. The wine is aged in a range of medium, and medium plus toasts to soften the palate and build weight.
