Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

It took three years to find the best block
of Cabernet on our Home Ranch and two years aging in
barrel to let the fruit components and tannin meld
naturally. For this vintage we blend in 30% of our Circle O
Cabernet, a young vineyard, just starting to show off.
Aromas of dried fruits, black currants, toasted hazelnuts,
and dark chocolate fuse with flavors of savory herbs, worn
leather, dried cherries and French oak resonate up through
the glass. Slow wine is the best wine.

An El Nino weather pattern brought a wet winter and

spring to the North Coast in 2017. A heat spike in June ad-
vanced the white grapes and prompted harvest in late

August. Once the white grapes were in, cooler weather set
in and gave us a delayed start to the red grape harvest 2
weeks later. It was almost like a mini holiday, mid harvest.
Overall, the crop came in a little lighter than average. 95%
of the vintage was in when the fires in Sonoma, Napa and
Lake Counties began. We were luckily unscathed, even
with the Sulphur Fire less than a mile from the Home Ranch.

Floral notes, tart cherries, and black tea fill the aroma, blending with flavors of fresh plum, toasted walnuts, and black olive with hints of dried cherries. They are all distinct notes but work together in this beautiful ruby garnet wine.

This wine has a deep violet tone. On the nose you can find dark cherries, blackberries and blueberries with hints of smoked bacon, ground black pepper.

Aromas of dried blueberries with under-tones of Dutch chocolate and vanilla, followed by flavors of dense fruit, earthy dried herbs, oats, molasses and warm spices.
