Swirling the glass a bit more reveals a touch of well-blended, creamy, and soothing vanilla that complements the ripe black cherry fruit. On the palate, moderate tannins and just the right amount of acidity extend the wine smoothly and broadly across the taste buds. The black cherry and blackberry flavors are prominent in the mouth, harmonizing beautifully with the balanced tannins and the soft yet pronounced acidity.

2022 was a unique year in the vineyards, every three to four weeks, an unusual weather phenomenon would pass through the warm and temperate spring. The start of summer was marked by a heat wave that reached up to 110˚ F in Lake County, a little lower than our southern neighbors. We've never experienced such heat, followed by heavy rain, in the middle of summer. The two inches we got put off picking until the soil dried up and the brix level rose. This harvest was like playing a game of weather dodgeball.
