Cuvee Pinot Noir 2020

We have worked with Pinot Noir from Sangiacomo since our first vintage in 1991. Each year we choose the best lots and produce a single vineyard bottling in exceptional years.

This blend is a beautiful and consistent expression of Pinot Noir: medium color and the pronounced aroma of Bing cherries and raspberries, combined with a silky, smooth structure, slight earthiness and mild tannin create perfect balance and a delicious, lingering finish.

Pair with a variety of dishes, such as cherry glazed duck breast, leek & pecorino pizza, roasted mushroom and feta tart, or fig and paté bruschetta.

2023 has been an incredible growing year. Early and abundant rain healed the vines and soil from the previous 3 years of heat and drought. This season was reminiscent of farming in Northern California decades ago. Mild summers, cold nights, and plenty of rain in winter and spring are natural for this land. There is a lot of noise from other growers about this cool summer being so rare and wineries are worried about getting the fruit harvested ripe, but this is how it used to be.

Up until this year, farming organically was an immense challenge. We just didn't have enough rain to farm. We stopped spraying conventional herbicides and pesticides years ago, but the drought and heat still caused a lot of damage to our vines. We lost so many trees on the ranch, and the landscape, especially at higher elevations, looked sick.

After this ideal growing season, we are seeing abundant growth in both the vines and landscape. This long, cool season will make spectacular wine. The extended hangtime and cool nights keep the grapes hydrated and firm while they take time to ripen.

We feel so blessed, and we're committed to farming in a more sustainable way with as little interference as possible. Farming on these steep volcanic mountain slopes is a challenge, but it's also incredibly rewarding.

Friends of the Lake County Library (a 2023 Beneficiary) was at the 29th Annual Pear Festival giving away free books to kids. Such a wonderful gift to get during the Festival. Kids were chasing bubbles from the bubble machine and selecting great books to enjoy reading at home. Thank you!❤️

"Believe in yourself AND your future begins today" is the motto of Lower Lake High School, and their Culinary Club is believing in their future today! A 2023 Wine Alliance Beneficiary, the Lower Lake High School Culinary Club confidently puts their best stuff on the plate, including the Wine Auction Salad Panzanella served to all of the auction guests as part of the three course dinner. Led by Culinary Instructor Rob Reil the students get to explore and learn culinary skills from around the world.
